Fadzuli Yek
Meet Fadzuli

A 70-year-old retiree who is passionate in helping others.

Fadzuli has dedicated much of his life to supporting people navigating the hardest chapters of their lives, including ex-offenders, recovering addicts, and individuals searching for a way forward.

As a desistor himself, he carries lived experience that no textbook can teach. But he discovered something important along the way: passion alone is not enough. Real help requires real skill.

That realisation brought him to Blended Concept and changed everything about how he shows up for the people he serves.

Hear it from Fadzuli himself

Fadzuli Yek
A good heart is not enough. Helping is a craft.

At 70, Fadzuli could have chosen a quieter path. Instead, he chose to keep learning.

Having dedicated himself to supporting ex-offenders, recovering addicts, and individuals navigating difficult transitions, Fadzuli discovered an important truth: a good heart alone is not enough to change lives. He used to approach people with what he calls the saviour instinct, the urge to fix, to solve, to rescue. It felt right. But it mostly missed.

Through Para-counselling and Motivational Interviewing, he learned something different. He learned to listen, not just to words, but to what lives behind them. He learned to ask instead of tell. To guide instead of solve. To trust that the best answers come from the person sitting in front of him.

Today, Fadzuli does not see what he does as work. He sees it as service. And at 70, he is still learning, still sharpening his craft, and still showing up, because as he says himself, life never stops teaching.

Life never stops teaching, and
neither should we.

What you will learn from this story

Fadzuli's journey teaches us three things about what it really means to help:

1

Good intentions are the starting point, not the destination. Skill and knowledge turn intention into real, lasting impact.

2

The saviour instinct gets in the way. Real help means letting go of the urge to fix and trusting the person to find their own answers.

3

It is never too late to learn. At 70, Fadzuli is proof that growth has no age limit and no finishing line.
