Group work intervention harnesses the benefits of cooperative learning to enhance opportunities for individual growth and is an essential skill in every social service practitioner’s handbook

Acquire group facilitation skills to achieve intervention outcomes and become a competent group work practitioner. Explore real-life challenge arising from group facilitation and uncover deeper issues through experiential learning. At the end of the training, learners will have gained an appreciation of using the self in therapy, and greater insight into personal challenges when managing groups.

      Mentoring youths can be a direct, yet complex and dynamic process. Having helping skills is not enough. To be effective mentors, it is important to understand youths’ worldviews and appreciate the functions of youths’ behaviours within their life experiences.

      Zul has more than 15 years of experience in youth work. He has a Master of Arts in Childhood and Youth. He is a registered training instructor with Ministry of Education, as well as a registered Social Worker with the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW).

      Zul started his career as a case worker with the Singapore Boy’s Home. His passionate involvement with Singapore Boys’ Home provided him with valuable experiences and insights into the world and lived reality of youths. Within the premise of working at Singapore Boys’ Home, other than being a Caseworker, Zul Ikmal had taken on the role of an Aftercare Officer as well as a Programmes and Volunteer officer.

      Zul provides counselling services to offenders in Singapore Prison Service and runs his own social enterprise conducting character building programmes for at-risk youths.
