Course Description

Have you ever felt exhausted, worn out, numb, angry, or sad because of your work?

Or seen a colleague’s outlook about work and life turn negative or cynical due to work stress and burnout?

Empathy and compassion are at the heart of professionals dealing with people. You could be a teacher, social worker, counsellor, nurse, coach, volunteer, human resource executive or front-line service staff, excessive work demands and managing people’s difficult emotions can make you feel powerless and hopeless.

This is compassion fatigue, a result of repeat exposure to secondary trauma from the client. And it can be a threat to the safety and wellbeing of your clients, customers, and yourself.

Whether or not you or your colleagues are suffering from it, it is important to build resilience through practical self-care involving effective counselling and coaching techniques. The result is better client or customer care, reduction in burnout stressor and a renewed purpose in helping others.

Join us in this course to learn the skills and techniques to apply not just to yourself, but to others around you going through destress.  

Learning Outcomes

In this 2-day course, you will:

  1. Identify recurring issues and risk factors that affect the health and well-being of teams and professionals
  2. Facilitate self-care activities to help professionals and team build health and wellbeing resilience
  3. Apply effective techniques in counselling and coaching in managing professional in stress
  4. Develop holistic framework to manage burnout

Duration

19 hours online Zoom learning, 4 hours self-directed e-learning, 1 hour assessment.

Target Audience

General public who wants to be equipped with skills to build mental and emotional resilience.

Social service practitioners, educators and teachers or professionals dealing with people who would like to support their clients, customers, or colleagues. 

Corporate or community leaders who wished to be better prepared to share and equip the community with knowledge on mental and emotional resilience. 

Certification

Learners who have successfully completed and passed the assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) in Interviewing issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) as well as an in-house certificate from the organisation.
